The Hi-Y is the school based and school going children's wing of the YMCA, with an aim 'to train them young' for leadership and quality life. The essence of the Hi-Y lies in its programme and the experience of the members. It also consists of relationship, contacts, planned and unplanned events that contribute to the development of the individual and youth as a team. The purpose of the Hi-Y is 'to create, maintain and extend throughout schools and community high standards of human and Christ inspired character ' and its platform is ' clean speech, clean scholarship, clean sportsmanship and clean living'. From

these values flow the planned programmes and is a challenge to the youth and the leaders to use these values in a new and creative expression in clear thinking, vigorous action, goodwill towards people and trust in God.

A programme of the YMCA for college going and university students
The Uni-Y endeavors:
  • To provide a forum for friendship, cultural pursuit and social action among the university students.
  • To provide an atmosphere wherein students are equally free to doubt as to affirm, to search as to find, to act independently as to conform.
  • To provide training in methods of democratic leadership through experience in planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating.

It tries to
  • Help members deal with personal problems and concerns through club programmes, discussions, lectures, interviews and informal talks with friends, advisers and other adults.
  • Provide members experience in social action, by participating in Uni-Y projects in the community.
  • Help members develop an understanding of interest in the people of the world.
  • Providing opportunities for developing good social relations, through joint meetings, action programmes and ventures with other youth groups in the city.
Nagpur Youth Forum
This forum gives special attention to youth so that they are able to take up leadership and get involved in social issues and concerns. It is with this vision that the National Council started the Youth Forum to sustain the youth in the Movement and enable them to come up in the leadership positions.
